"You failed AP19..."

Updated: Jun 15, 2023

Those were mom's words, pretty much sums up my review for AP19!

Why a website?

3 years in by end of 2018, Instagram was the place where I documented my journey. I wanted a proper platform where I can share the learning officially, whether be it in article, recipe, thoughts of others. Imagine some 50 projects later after 50 years, if I am alive at my 70s, I would have 50 projects documented here. That's the dream, that I leave nothing but my projects behind. Hope AP17 Minimalism still serves me strong by then. Additionally I wanted to improve my writing, what's best to improvise with documenting my projects.

Like each year, I started the year with huge plans...

I planned that I would spend 3 months finding a website builder platform (Wordpress, Wix, Squarespace), 3 months each to backtrack my documentation on AP16 Italy, AP17 Minimalism and AP18 Sociology. And it failed quite miserably.

Lacking progress for a year...

  • I have a website layout in mind, but I needed to search through template to get me to one

  • I don't know which website builder to use and I was doubting the financial commitment to subscribe to any

  • I had the wrong mindset that I am creating content (for my audience). In a way yes, but I guess I should have just written the content for myself

  • Workload has gone crazy again and by the time I am able to unwind, working on laptop is the last thing I want to do

  • I simply procrastinated when perfection is not being met

My friends were right...

He pointed out that this project was me focusing on the ends rather than the means, while he thought I was one who enjoyed working on the means. I appreciated that comment. My secret santa was also right, I was waiting for perfection. My lovely colleague kept reminding to hit that launch button.

With 6 days left,I launched it...

Not up to expectation, I did anyhow. Of which it was ready by early November, where I focused on it during my work downtime. Was I proud of it? Not quite. But I am glad I hit the launch button. In the grand scheme of things, it is still a milestone for my Annual Project journey.

What's next with the website?

I dare not promise anything now haha. I would have to build some routine of posting articles here. Some backtracking updates required still for AP16-AP18. Especially my favourite AP17 Minimalism, there are so much to share. I have enough "content" to publish but I do need time, routine and motivation for this.

So, what's....for AP20?

I am going back to a lifestyle project and also this time introducing a half-half project. Well, more like 2-in-1 where I was encouraged to take up the other documentation method. Stay tuned, as I expand the pages on my website and made the official announcement. I am excited for this one and I hope this could revive the 'glory' from AP17.
