The Microsoft desktop startup screen has been featuring amazing wanderlust photos. On and off, one caught my attention and I clicked on 'Like What You See'. Civita was one of them and the one leaving the most impression, even till this day, even after I saw it with my own eyes.

Civita lies on top of a hill, while the land is slowly eroding. There are no vehicles except for a garbage truck and some motorcycles. Once it was a dying town where people fled, now it had become a cute touristy place. Civita was an hour of leisure drive away from Rome.
Some of the snaps taken during the drive...
Michele rented a very cute BnB, La Dimora di Civita. It was a shame that we spent only one night in this beautiful and cosy accommodation. We then went to La Cantina di Arianna for our dinner. I do miss a proper Italian dinner, I had Bruschette with Truffled Mushroom, Ricotta Spinach Ravioli with Pesto Sauce and of course, jugs of red wine. Michele and I engaged in a somewhat heated political topic and then it ended emotional with me booking my next accommodation.
The next morning, we had a little tour on our own. It felt surreal to live on top of a mountain where what's underneath you could be eroding and yet the surrounding was stunning with agricultural produce. We found the place where a Pinocchio drama series was filmed, and estates where a traditional olive oil machines were still being used to process distilled olive oil, and an old church where people were flooding in for a ceremony. Needless to say the city was really really cute.
We checked out and Michele took me to another little hill city called Orvieto. We had a long walk in this old traditional city, until we saw a gothic cathedral at Piazza del Duomo. Every city in Italy is just so captivating. The architecture is so pretty and the atmosphere is just so alive.
The two nights we spent together were just simply too short. I said goodbye reluctantly and emotionally but this memory in Civita with Michele was a double dream come true. What else I could ask for...
